Unfaithful

Atop a bending hill
As I drive slow,
The icy gale brings back the memories
And the tears begin to flow.

The gloomy clouds reminiscent
Of the mascara you wore.
A veil of lies,
Your dreamy eyes long bore.

Outside,
A flash of lightning-
A thunderous brilliance.
Inside,
If only I could too-
Break my silence.

Arms outstretched
I liberate my fears
I let the rain hit my face,
Blend with my tears.

I stand there
Drenched.
The fire within me
Quenched.

For yours is not the fault,
If shattered lie the bonds of faith.

It’s harder still
To keep faith in faith

Is it you or I
They call

Unfaithful?
